The 8 oz flask is the standard size: same clear shatterproof Tritan body and silicone bumpers as the compact version, stretched to 5.5 inches tall while staying an inch thick. Black is the version that gets bought most, because it is the one nobody has to think about.

Eight ounces is the sharing size

Two extra ounces sounds trivial and is not. Six ounces is one person for an evening; eight is two people, or one person for a longer day, and it is the capacity most people picture when they say the word flask. The footprint barely changes, because the extra volume goes into height rather than thickness.

A taller pocket profile

At 5.5 inches this sits high in a jacket pocket where the 6 oz version disappears entirely. In an inside coat pocket or a bag it makes no difference at all. In a back pocket it does, which is the one honest reason to choose the smaller version over this one.

The default in the range

This is the configuration the flask family was designed around, and the rest are variations on it. Shatterproof body, impact absorbing bumpers, leakproof cap, BPA free, no metal in the construction, and a top rack dishwasher cycle when it needs one. Black simply removes the last decision.
