Two colors, two teams

The counter solves the tally, and the color solves the ownership. One red and one navy on the table means nobody has to ask which number belongs to whom, and neither side can quietly adjust the other. It is the cheapest scoring system in lawn games and it doubles as everyone's drink holder.

Warm color, cool contents

Red on a drink holder is not the obvious instinct, and it works here because the shade is muted rather than fire engine bright.
